Enactus University of Lodz was the winner of the Enactus Poland National Competition in 2016, which took place on 6th June 2016 at Kinoteka in the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. With project called SweetHelp students of Enactus University of Lodz have won recognition of 120 members of the prestigious jury including CEOs, board members, representatives of top management.

 

By winning the competition in Poland, students of University of Lodz are going to represent Poland at Enactus World Cup in Toronto in September, where they will compete with Enactus teams from all around the world.

This year, the event brought together over 120 members of jury (CEOs, board members, senior management team), 300 students and the host of media representatives. The Jury was represented by presidents and board members of companies such as PKO Bank Polski, SAP, Eurocash Group, Microsoft, Gide, Avallon, McCormick, Havas Media Group, Amazon, BASF, Pelion Group, Bayer, IBM, Unilever, Coca-Cola HBC, Google, AXA Group, DHL, Cargill, Stock Poland, Hertz Poland, Shell Poland, Imperial Tobacco, Virgin Mobile, Komputronik, BOŚ Bank, 3M, mBank, Sage, Antalis.

Numerous tips and evaluations given to students by the jury, will help them with developing projects in the next academic year. The judges also praise students’ attitude, energy and commitment into action.

At the competition have participated 11 Enactus Teams from Polish universities. Jurors viewed students’ presentations from: AGH University of Science and Technology, Gdansk University of Technology, Lodz University of Technology, Poznan University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, University of Lodz, University of Gdansk, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Warsaw School of Economics, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin.

All presentations were conducted in English. The teams competed in 3 parallel leagues. After watching all the presentations in each league Jury chose the team with the highest achievements, nominating the best team to continue to participate in the competition..

In the final round competed the three best teams from opening round: Enactus University of Lodz, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The winner was the University of Lodz, which impressed the Jury with project called SweetHelp. Its main goal is to train older people to be able to take care of children with diabetes, enabling parents to return to work. On the other hand, elderly people have an additional job, so that it is easier for them to maintain in retirement.

There were also special awards – „Most Improved Team” for the Poznan University of Technology, „Enactus Rookies” for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin. Enactus Rookies are awards for the newest teams, which take part in the competition in the first year. Also Enactus Poland awarded the best business advisor and the best faculty advisor.

PKO Bank Polski – Enactus Poland Diamond Sponsor awarded the special prize of „Most Effective Business Concept” for the project Sweet Help of University of Lodz, who won the contest.

Among the special guests of the event they appeared, among others, Małgorzata Szczepańska, Director of the Department of Innovation of the Ministry of Economic Development, which opened the final round and Szymon Wałach, Managing Director, Division of Retail Customer PKO Bank Polski who given the awards.

Participants throughout the day were accompanied by inspirational words of Szymon Kudła, who during the opening ceremony led inspiration & motivation speech.
