ENACTUS HISTORY AND STRUCTURE. (FORMER NAME – SIFE)

Enactus is an international non-profit organization established in 1975 in the United States under the name of SIFE. Enactus supports students from over 1600 universities in 36 countries. It is the world’s largest association which connects the academic world with the business world. The main Enactus unit is Enactus World Headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, which part is – Enactus International Department. In individual countries operate organizations which are coordinating national Enactus editions of the program.

MISSION

Enactus is an initiative connecting the current leaders, representatives of business and scientific leaders with leaders of tomorrow – capable and active students.

These three groups strive together to stimulate entrepreneurship of selected communities. For this purpose, every day in the world Enactus students teams with the help of mentors and business advisors implement educational projects. Guided by the principles of ethics, looking for business solutions and market mechanisms that permanently and effectively improve the quality of life for local communities.

Learning and delivery of knowledge and information is not the only objective of Enactus projects. Taken actions should lead to specific, measurable outcome, ie. have an impact on the economic situation and the financial status of individuals and / or groups. Enactus team action should result in eg. creation of new enterprises, repair situation of existing companies and / or improvement of the financial situation of the local community.
